Magic of Power
The land has now been changed, truly for thy good, with the magic wands of Australian Rehab Magician Ron Smelter, and Allied Medical’s own man of magic, Squire Jazzy, having completed their dazzling Magic of Power tour.
Covering the Kingdoms of Auckland, over not one, but two whole rotations of the clock, Wanganui, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, the event was labelled a true success by all that took up the challenge to attend.
The Magician’s didn’t hold back in revealing all that is required in getting a wide range of clients using the full potential of their powerchair independently. Beyond providing some technical spiel on the various products and their intended applications, the day-long presentations also provided an opportunity to get hands-on with the product and see what a Sip’n’Puff head array really felt like on a Quantum Blast, or seeing the skill involved in suitably manoeuvring a Jazzy 1420 with the mere use of their foot and a switched foot control.
The Kingdom certainly looks set never to be the same again – be sure to keep yours eyes peeled, your ears attuned, and of course your magic wand at the ready, for the Magic of Power has now been unleashed...
New Product : Buckle Guard
We finally have a product for all of the therapists who regularly call us to try and find a solution for children (and adults) who manage to release their seat belt at inappropriate times when travelling in a vehicle. And we have stock available for purchase!
The FAS Buckle Guard’s see-through, polycarbonate design complies with the guideline of Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZ 4370:1996 – Restraint of Children with Disabilities in Motor Vehicles. Once this Buckle Guard is applied the child or adult will not be able to undo the seat belt buckle. The seat belt buckle can be safely released by inserting any key into the top slot.
Since the seat belt buckle is effectively “modified”, the law requires that a medical certificate from a medical practitioner and a proper prescription form be completed before we can supply the Buckle Guard.

Customers using this device should carry the seat belt cutter provided in the Buckle Guard Kit in a readily accessible place in the vehicle at all times, for use in emergency situations.
Calling all Julia Childs, Martha Stewarts and Jamie Olivers!
Thanks to the input from several centrally located therapists and technicians, a new page for this website is due to emerge soon – but we need your help...
What we’d like you to do is to come up with a recipe that involves an Allied Medical product name or brand. We’ve already got the Varilite Sponge and the Karma Kumara dishes… so put on your chefs hat, bring out the Edmonds cook book and email your recipe to whatscooking@alliedmedical.co.nz to make sure it appears on this new page!
