Allied Medical's NEW Manual Wheelchair & Seating Category Specialist

Hi everyone,

Well I might not be a completely new face here at Allied Medical but I sure am brand new in my role as Manual Wheelchair & Seating Category Specialist. As many of you might know, I've been at Allied Medical for a while and having worked alongside our Category Specialists I've gained a great knowledge on all of our products as well as the funding process. So I'm very excited with this new opportunity to focus on my own category and to provide you with the in-depth support and answers to those "challenging situations" that you might come across with our products.

But it's not all about work - and even though things do tend to get rather busy here at times - I do have quite a few interests outside work that keeps me busy. One of my biggest passions are abstract painting and I'm hoping to have my own exhibition one day - even though my teacher reminds me that I've still got a long way to go! And like many other city slickers, I love to plod along in the garden, that is if time and space permits of course. I'm really looking forward to be working with you all in future and for those who I haven't met already, keep an ear out as I'll be in contact soon to let you know when I'm in your area next.

Introducing the new Q-Logic Drive Control System electronics

Our Quantum powerchairs are undergoing a revolutionary change! Over the coming months Allied Medical are introducing the latest in electronic drive control systems called Q-Logic on our powerchairs - like the Q600 and the Q1107. These new electronics incorporate the latest electronic technology and that has now been made available to powerchair users.

The fully programmable Q-Logic Drive Control System is packed with unique features including an innovative display that provides users with more information than ever before. Speed, battery condition, odometer information and time are presented in an easy-to-read, large full colour display. The new displays can even be tailored for an individual user's requirements. The enhanced display unit can connect to the standard range of alternative control inputs, and as standard it also has built-in Infra-Red and Bluetooth communications making it extremely cost competitive to communicate wirelessly with a range of other devices, such as Environmental Controls and Communication Devices and it can even operate a computer mouse!

The Q-Logic system reduces the number of electrical cables required for some configurations due to its new CAN-bus communication system and thus reduces the likelihood of damage to the electronics, as well as providing a much tidier appearance. This system allows for simple plug-and-play type configuration of components.

As well as the new features, the Q-Logic system offers all the standard programming features plus a whole host of other options and thus offering more flexibility and allowing for a new level of customisation. The new speed control knob for example can be setup to operate in three different ways to best suit the user's abilities. There is also a quick and easy access button to the power seat functions if fitted to for example quickly adjust the tilt angle.

The stand-alone joystick also offers a range of new clever refinements that make this unit extremely versatile, especially in combination with the extensive range of programmable options and offers a small compact fully stand-alone and complete driving option. The technicians and maintenance issues have also not been forgotten with the design of the Q-Logic system. For example if an error occurs the system will display a simple error messages with code and will only stop the chair from driving if this is absolutely necessary. The technician can connect up and use the electronics to monitor and track an extremely comprehensive range of parameter to diagnose faults etc.
