Karma Stump Support - now on Enable New Zealand's Common List

As of 1 June 2009, the standard stump support for the Karma wheelchair has been added onto Enable's Common List. The codes are:

WCSSL: Stump Support - Left
WCSSR: Stump Support - Right

And speaking of Common List - the Varilite Reflex cushion which so many of you have prescribed since it went on the Common List last October has had an improvement made to it. Many assessors and clients have really liked the idea of a non-adjustable cushion, but felt that the Reflex did not provide the stability that they have come to expect with a VARILITE cushion. So, Varilite have added firmer perimeter foam to the Reflex cushion. The perforated foam in the ischial area and the cover remains the same.

Our first shipment of cushions with this improvement is due to arrive in New Zealand soon - we just wanted to give you a heads up!

New face at Allied Medical

As part of the ever growing Allied Medical team, we're really pleased to introduce our new team member - Craig Waith.

Craig joins our Business Services Team as their team leader, and has the huge responsibility of managing our accounting, customer care and procurement functions. Craig's very strong on the numbers and process side and has already made some great improvements about how we do things at Allied which is great!! And he and his team are working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything that you need to happen happens!!

Heads up - there's a new headrest out for the Karma wheelchair!

Fitting headrests on manual wheelchair has always been a challenge if you are using a canvas backrest. But the good news is that the clever people at Karma have come up with a simple and cost effective headrest that easily fits onto a KM8000 wheelchair. And to make it even better, it even folds up with the wheelchair!

It comes in three sizes (to allow for different width wheelchairs) and is only $325 + GST - including the brackets and the headrest. And, it can easily be retrofitted to any Karma wheelchair.

The sizes are: (the measurements given are the distance between the backcanes)

Small (30~36cm)
Medium (36~42cm)
Large (42~50cm)
