Individuals with chronic medical conditions and long-term disabilities who have a permanent need for a wheelchair require a comprehensive, detailed evaluation of their physical, functional and environmental needs to allow clinicians and ATP suppliers to make appropriate Assistive Technology recommendations for a successful outcome.
This course will examine the coverage criteria, clinical benefits and research in support of a power height-adjustable seat (PASH), provide the clinician with practical tools to consider and incorporate when evaluating and documenting the need for this power seat option; assist the supplier in reading and interpreting the information in the medical record to determine when to provide a power seat elevation system, and provide billing and reimbursement personnel with strategies to mitigate denial for coverage and reimbursement of a PASH system.

Quantum Webinar: Clinical Considerations for Alternative Drive Controls

Length: 1 hour

Past Event on Thursday, June 4 2020 | 11:00am

Assessing an end user for power mobility can be an intimidating task. Decisions that are made will have an impact on the individual’s quality life, functional mobility, physical well being, and social interactions. When the end user is not able to utilize a standard joystick, then the task can become even more intimidating. There are many considerations and factors including driving/input method, mounting of driver controls, postural control, power positioning, programming, and environmental access/control. This workshop will review many of the considerations that must be examined when recommending alternative controls. Case specific examples will be utilized to elucidate the often-delicate interplay between alternative control access and complex seating system needs.
